The Decorative Home of the Future
If I were to start with a plan box like structure of a “living space” and begin creating the simplistic stylized life of a contemporary single person…I would:
1. One wall should be dedicated to nothing but storage, keeping everything in one neat organized area. Within the wall create a Murphy type bed with closet space on either side…storage for bike or larger objects.
2. The ceiling would be tall and grand with decorative ceiling fans to help distribute heating and cooling throughout the room.
3. The entertainment system would be mounted from rafters in the ceiling displaying a large picture screen.
4. The opposite wall would be the kitchen eating and bathroom area. Sliding doors would allow you to section off parts of the space without losing floor room. Glass cabinets with interior illumination would allow you to see in without having to open the door. The water system would self purify, and waste would automatically be composed or recycled.
5. To one end of the kitchen area through a double wide door, would be the luxurious bath with spa tub, glass enclosed twin head shower and granite counter with two deep sinks. Flat screen TV adjacent the tub. The stool would sit separately in its own closet with a heated feature for towels, and sauna relaxation.
6. All the walls would be “touch type”. So that they just look like a wall until touched, then reveal hidden storage spaces.
7. The room would be equipped with a computer that senses your needs for more heat or cooling and mood pleasing senses for relaxation. By stating your need for more light, the room would brighten or dim. The spa jacuzzi would be voice activated.
8. Wall color would be easily changed through lighting rather than paint.
9. Furniture would be clean lines with a contemporary style that would be modular and easily transformed to alternate pieces depending on needs.
10. General decorating would be simplistic to eliminate clutter. You could have a “cube” lifestyle. By filling out a questionnaire on your lifestyle and special needs the construction would be prefabricated and you would live in pods like a condo. The Cubes could be enlarged as your family increased. The need for cars would be lessened by the shops, and restaurants located in the center of the pod community. Walking would be the norm, promoting healthy lifestyle. Each community would be set up for families, elderly, young unmarried life styles. And trams would transport you between destinations.
