Beauty And Function With Log Cabin Bedding

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

The primary function of rustic lodge bedding is warmth. Individuals who use this bedding are often in regions that get very cold. In the last few years this bedding has gained in popularity as individuals have sought ways to reduce energy bills. For this reason, the styles and designs of this bedding have grown.

This type of bedding has been used traditionally by individuals who are sleeping in areas without heat. A person in a cabin may not have heat for most of the night when they sleep. They require a method of staying warm and insulated against the chill air as the cabin gets colder.

The bedding normally includes a set of warm sheets, warm pillowcases, and blanket. The sheets and pillowcases are often made of flannel or another warm material that will hold body heat. The blanket may be made of a wool or thermal quality material. When the bedding is used in unison, it will keep a person as warm as a sleeping bag would.

The bedding has many designs and patterns available. An individual may wish to create an animal theme and have bears on their bedding. Or, they may wish to stay with a traditional geometric pattern on their bedding. In some cases, the bedding will be a solid fabric that has a contrasting pattern embedded on it.

When rustic bedding is being purchased for style, rather than function, an individual is given choices in the level of warmth, the type of coverlet that is selected, and the fabric that the entire set is made from. An individual may choose a quilt pattern that replicates the rustic style, but would not be appropriate for use in that type of setting.

The function and use of lodge bedding in that setting requires that the bedding be very durable. It must be stain resistant, be able to withstand rigorous use, and be easy to manipulate. Many people who are selecting bedding for this type of setting, look for the warmest bedding they can get that is not terribly heavy. They do not look for quilts, but rather the open weave, thermal warmth of wool.

Bedding that is designed for style does not focus on warmth. The bedding will be used in a room that has a heater and there will be little need for the kind of warmth that a rustic region would require. The bedding is usually not as durable as the traditional rusting bedding because it does not need to be.

When selecting cabin bedding it is important to decide what the purpose of the bedding will be. The styles available are diverse and will give an individual many choices when they are selecting the bedding for their room.

Dramatic And Striking Southwestern Bedding Sets

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

The informality of southwestern bedding makes it an excellent choice for guest rooms and children’s rooms. Many students take their bedding with them when they leave home for the first time because it provides the much needed comforts of home when they are sleeping in a strange place.

This type of bedding is found in many different styles and designs. The commonality of the bedding is its color. It is normally found utilizing rich earthen tones with black or dark red as an accent. The traditional bedding gives one the distinct feeling that they are in the old west. The blankets are usually an open weave and are made using a traditional yarn fiber.

Modern bedding is made to emulate the traditional design and style of the southwestern style bedding. It is often made using a tight weave fabric that is dyed to give the illusion of a more open weave. The styles and designs are traditional and often the bedding will have a primitive geometric design on the coverlet and pillows that form a pattern when they are placed together.

In children’s rooms the bedding holds up to rigorous use and retains it’s color and shape even with numerous washings. The coverlet is reinforced with thread that surpasses that found on most types of bedding. An individual will find the the colors retain their vibrancy for several years.

The bedding is normally not made in the traditional quilting of most manufactured bedding. There is a thinner layer of batting used in the coverlet that provides the same level of warmth in a more lightweight cover. In areas where there is severe cold, the bedding is often made in a flannel or warmer fabric that provides an extra level of comfort to the user.

Historically, the traditional bedding had meaning. Each design that was woven in the fabric was part of a story. When the bedding was complete a story unfolded that could be shared at night by a family. Now, the bedding is not purposely designed to tell a story, but it can. The designs and figures found in the bedding provides the perfect way to share information, stories, and talk in a comfortable environment.

In many cases you will find that this bedding has been pre-treated and is stain and wear resistant. The manufacturers and designers have created this type of bedding for multiple uses and for function. Many people take their bedding camping and on trips because it provides warmth, is lightweight, and reminds them of home.

The bedding is often used for multiple purposes. For the most part, this bedding provides informal comfort to family and visitors. A person will find that the bedding is extremely durable and will provide guests with the warmth and comfort that you want them to have.

There are several types of southwestern design bedding . You will want to select the bedding set that is best suited for the purpose you have in mind. If you will be using the bedding on a daily basis you will want to get a heavy duty bedding that will retain its vibrancy for several years. If the bedding will be used occasionally for short term use, you may want to select a bedding that is more artful and delicate.
