Planning Your Kitchen Remodeling Project
If you are planning a kitchen remodeling job, you want to think about more than just the decor. More than any other room in the house, you really want to consider how you are going to use the space as well. It can really make a difference in how you feel about cooking.
One thing to consider is the appliances that you have and ones that you might want to add. A really convenient one is a Kitchenaid food processor. These make preparing food a great deal easier. But planning space on the counter to use it is important. If you are going to be using it a lot, you may want enough counter space to keep it out.
Coffee makers, blenders and toasters also need counter space to be used. Whether you need space to leave them out is going to depend on you. Most people do not use blenders and toasters every day but are far more likely to use a coffee maker on a daily basis.
What about the stand-alone appliances such as your refrigerator and Kitchenaid oven? You need to design around the space they will take up as well. If you have a microwave, design your space so that is built in rather than taking up precious work room on the counter.
As with the rest of the house, this is an important area to be thinking about home storage shelves. It is nice to have a separate closet, even one you can walk into, to use as a pantry. Here you can more easily store your food products. It is also nice to have some extra space for the kitchen items that you do not use on a regular basis such as serving dishes for dinners or fondue pots.
Drawers can also be planned in detail for their individual use. For example, a drawer can be designed specifically to hold your spices. This makes them much easier to find than when they are in front of one another on a shelf.
Large enough kitchens can have a central butcher block for use in food preparation. They are even more convenient for preparing food when they are separated from the rest of the counters. They are easier to clean this way as well.
The key to kitchen remodeling is to really take the time to plan ahead of time. If you want to enjoy cooking your meals, the way you use the space is critical. A well laid out kitchen can make you look forward to entertaining.
